Driving targeted leads to your website

Organic search traffic provides your business with a stream of highly targeted motivated buyers to your website.

What’s more there is no charge per click unlike paid search advertising such as Google Adwords. However, it does require specific strategies for your website to rank in meaningful positions for search phrases that both relate to your product offering and that have meaningful search volumes necessary to provide ongoing sales and sales leads.

Cranfield Design has been involved with SEO (search engine optimisation) since 2000 and has extensive experience and expertise in implementation of proven SEO strategies.

How does search engine optimisation work?

Google became the dominant global search engine in the early 2000’s by consistently providing higher quality search results than their competitors.

They did this through the development of a system called “Page Rank” (from co-founder Larry Page). Page Rank was the algorithm behind deciding what search results to show and in what order for any given googled phrase.

Broadly speaking the ranking factors behind Page Rank are onsite factors (the content in your website and in various page tags plus other factors such as site speed) and offsite factors which predominantly is other websites linking to your website.

Onsite SEO is the easy part although most websites still fall short in this area. That said, all others things (onsite SEO) being equal, the war is won in offsite SEO.

Offsite SEO is arguably the most important ranking factor. The way Google looks at it is if a number of other websites link to your website Google sees this as a vote of confidence in the quality of your content and thus pushes you further up the search rankings.

However, not all links are equal and the quality of your links is far more important than the quantity. Quality of the links can be determined by the website authority scores of the websites linking to you and also the relevancy of the websites linking to you.

Our SEO Process

1. Keyword Research

We research search phrases to target that have both relevancy and volume. We build a website mapping plan that decides which pages will target which groups of keywords chosen.

2. Competitor Analysis

We use SEM Rush and ahrefs software to analyse your most visible competitors. We can then build a strong idea of how many quality links will be required to move up into meaningful ranking spots.

3. Onsite SEO

We implement the keyword mapping plan across the website. We may make content changes/additions recommendations. We analyse your website speed and make technical improvements where possible.

4. Offsite SEO

This is where the magic happens. We begin an outreach program building high quality and relevent links into your website.

5. Reporting/Refining

We provide reporting with your keyword rankings progress and Google Analytics reporting. Where needed we refine onsite and offsite seo to get best results based off our reporting.

ethical back link building

Building quality back links

As outlined above, quality back links (assuming correct onsite SEO is implemented) are the primary driver that quality rankings rely upon. If you are a business owner, chances are you receive numerous unsolicited emails selling SEO services and back links.

Our advice is to avoid these like the plague. SEO is like the wild west of the IT world with big promises and empty results. At best links from these sources will do nothing for your rankings. At worst you may incur penalties from Google that adversely affect your rankings.

Cranfield Design builds links from reputable sources with entirely “white hat” techniques.

When authoritative websites link to content on your site, it works as a signal that your content is relevant and trustworthy. When done correctly, acquiring quality links to quality content (i.e. pages, posts, documents, media, etc) within your website is one of the most powerful ways to boost Google rankings and traffic.

White hat link building uses SEO-based techniques, like creating informative content and building relationships with other relevant, authoritative websites, to acquire high-quality backlinks for your business. The focus is on link quality rather than quantity.

On the other hand, black hat link building is driven by the desire to gain as many links as possible regardless of their relevance or reputability. This tactic often involves buying arbitrary links in bulk to get the count up. The problem here is that search engines aim to deliver useful and relevant content to their users, and therefore can penalise black hat tactics by downgrading your website’s rankings or even completely delisting it.

As not all links are created equal, summing up the total number of links isn’t a reliable measure of success. That’s why we concentrate on more insightful metrics to track the impact of our link building efforts, including:

  • Your website’s domain authority. It’d be great if Google gave us a nice easy way to measure this directly, but they don’t. Industry-leading SEO software ahrefs can track your Domain Rating (DR), which is about as close as you’ll get to understanding how authoritative Google thinks your site is.
  • The number of relevant keyword impressions your website receives per Google Search Console
  • The number and position of relevant keyword rankings using rank tracking tools like Google Search Console, SEMrush or ahrefs
  • The quality and relevance of referral domains and referral traffic
  • Growth in your website’s organic search traffic, leads and sales as a result of your investment in link building

SEO is a long game. That said depending on the competitiveness of the target search phrases we typically see results within 6 – 8 weeks of starting a cmapign.
